Summary

A fresh romance from Io Sakisaka, leading shojo manga creator and author of Ao Haru Ride!

Fast friends Yuna and Akari are complete opposites—Yuna is an idealist, while Akari is a realist。 When lady-killer Rio and the oblivious Kazuomi join their ranks, love and friendship become quite complicated!

Love and friendship have become quite complicated for these four friends。 Akari seeks comfort from Kazuomi after an ex-boyfriend has some harsh words for her。 Yuna is about to hear a love confession, but is it from the boy she likes?

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH! Why is this series so cute?! Yuna is a precious adorable baby and I love her to pieces! The author got her perfect, down to the adorable fidgety mannerisms。Anyway, this is the portion of the series where our hopeful couples are hindered by a third party who also wants a bit of the romance。 Drama incoming! This series has 12 volumes。

Hannah

Finally, get to see one of the main couples together! So cute!

The only thing that calms her is。。。 being held closely by Kazu! He loves it, she loves it, but why can't either say something??? As our friends leave for home, someone suddenly yells Akari's name! They all turn around, and Akari gasps, as she sees someone VERY unexpected approaching! Wooo, things are definitely getting interesting! I am so excited for the next volume! 。。。more

Alright Yuna/Agamatsu didn’t happen but ok。 Even tough I enjoyed this volume, I’m not very interested in what’s going to happen next, mostly due to how Yuna and Rio’s relationship was presented。

The school festival winds down, but everybody involved is getting wound up。 With feelings flying everywhere, surely somebody might make some progress finally, right? To top it off, Akari learns some truths about herself and I see how many times I can cram the name “Io Sakisaka” into a single review! The cynic in me thinks that Sakisaka made this story about two main couples just so she could get two major confession scenes out of a single book。 I mean, in a way that’s pretty clever。 It wouldn’t surprise me either - I do not always love her books, but I do think this author is an absolute master of this genre。Last volume’s cliffhanger is defused by something as simple as, well, reality。 Most rivals, or, as they are technically known, “hopeless no-chancers”, don’t offer much more than this level of interference and this one is working via a particularly skeezy (if well-intentioned, I get it, I get it) scheme。There’s a lot of vintage Sakisaka miscommunication, exacerbated by the fact that Yuna’s come a long way but she had a really long way to go, so her confidence is still not great。 But, mild spoilers here, sparks finally ignite amidst a very, very sweet sequence (nobody draws bulbous tears like this author, nobody, it’s like watching a dam threaten to break)。 That one split page (you’ll know it when you see it) is really good, even if it’s a touch cliche。Once Yuna and Rio get together, it becomes clear that Yuna is stealing this volume。 Her reactions are absolutely hysterical and during the amusement park section, which features a very nice lesson in honesty, she is just a force to be reckoned with。 The art here just kills it。I don’t dislike Rio and Inui, but it’s fair to say (and, in fact, repeat often in reviews) that Akari and Yuna are the emotional heart of this series。 Their endearing friendship is one of the best I’ve seen across Sakisaka’s works and she has a really touching moment between them here。 Those two have such a strong bond and it’s really cool to see them so reliable for one another (although watch it get shredded and/or put to the test now that I’ve said that)。Our more straightforward pairing make some progress of their own。 Akari gets some harsh truths from her “friends” (I don’t care if they were right, they still seem like jerks) and her ex。 We see Inui might have feelings nestled inside him。 It’s certainly clearer now that Akari needs to learn to love herself before she can really get through to Inui。We also get some incredible Ferris wheel action that might trump an actual confession for how cute it all is。 I think that’s what makes Sakisaka so reliable as a mangaka - you might be dragged for miles before you get anywhere, but you know your journey is going to get rewarded eventually。Then it all ends with one last Sakisaka-style cliffhanger that surprised even me, but shouldn’t have。 It’s a classic last page reveal through and through。3。5 stars, but the more I ruminate on this, the more I like it。 This is not my favourite series of this author, as I have said, but it’s still good and when it nails those big moments it is a lot better than many similar series。 After a week or two of mostly underwhelming books, it’s nice to be reminded just how strong something well-written can land。Total Sakisaka count after the summary: 5 。。。more

Sebenernya udah selesai baca dari beberapa bulan lalu。 Sudah seperti yang diduga sih, (view spoiler)[ akhirnya Rio duluan yang jadian sama Yuna。 (hide spoiler)] Terus terang dari awal lebih minat sama ceritanya Akari sama Inui。 Apalagi tahun depan mau dibikin animenya。 Sebenernya udah selesai baca dari beberapa bulan lalu。 Sudah seperti yang diduga sih, (view spoiler)[ akhirnya Rio duluan yang jadian sama Yuna。 (hide spoiler)] Terus terang dari awal lebih minat sama ceritanya Akari sama Inui。 Apalagi tahun depan mau dibikin animenya。 。。。more
